What Are Psilocybin Spores, And Are They Legal?
Mushrooms containing the psilocybin alkaloid are commonly referred to as "magic mushrooms." Shroom Spores are the reproducing seeds of magic mushrooms, which have been revered and feared throughout the history of humanity due to the hallucinogenic effects of the mushrooms themselves. Spores are solitary cells with a set of chromosomes containing all of the genetic information required to reproduce a new main mycelium. Primary mycelium is the threadlike underground system that makes up most of the fungi's life cycle.
Are the spores of the magic mushroom legal?
Yes, with restrictions. Because they do not contain psilocybin, the purchase and sale of Shroom spores are legal in 47 of the 50 U.S. states, whose criminal statutes only restrict the ownership, sale, and transportation of the hallucinogenic substance itself.
There are three exceptions: Georgia, California, and Idaho. The letter of the law in California prohibits the sale, transfer, and gifting of spores by anyone other than approved researchers and research institutes. Georgia and Idaho prohibit their ownership for everyone.
Even in some states, spores such as microscopy can only be lawfully purchased and sold for educational or scientific purposes. They cannot be purchased or sold to cultivate hallucinogenic mushrooms. Therefore, law enforcement can charge you with carrying a controlled substance as soon as the spores begin to develop into fruit or mycelium mushrooms.
Shroom spores are the reproducing cells of psychedelic mushrooms that do not contain psychoactive substances and are, therefore, lawful to purchase throughout the majority of the United States and the rest of the world, so long as you do not intend to grow them.
